pres ented october 19 30 and 21 in the high school auditorium if having a wearing effect on the actors during rehearsals of a sword fighting scene between the bandit ron hill and the hus band des nicholl many a scene has been acted a little too realistically resulting in cuts and bruises to the actors the play is told through the eyes of four different people the bandit the husband the wife vera macdonald and the woodcutter chris fisher each thinks bis version is the true one and part of the sur prise ending is discovering which one really is the truth this highly unconventional play features also eric ming as a wigmaker gord hunt the deputy betty fisher the moth er and lynn wiggins the me dium the play is being d d by lynne hyde who is also set designer while pat bark house is producer the long discussed twoyear term for elected officials is al most certain to be in effect for this coming election monday night a motion to prepare a by law which would see the candidates elected this december hold office for two years was passed on a five to four vote three readings still have to be given the bylaw be fore november 1st and a change of heart by a councillor could result in its defeat those favouring the motion for the two year terra were crs smith speight ballentine deputy reeve young hunter those opposing were mayor gibbons emmers and hyde it is now permissible for council to enact a two year term without holding a plebis cite as it was in the past none of the members posed the idea of a two year term however the opposition was baaed on the fact they felt the people should be given right to vote on it since they turned it down once before in presenting his motion cr smith contended that council lors and committees should be given a chance to start and complete projects without the change sometimes resulting from elections he contended the cost of yearly elections were unnecessary and hoped the two year term would t ing out more voters to the polls there are only two municip alities in the whole area left with yearly elections and we are one he added in con clusion he pointed out that a two year term gives much more scope for planning ahead admitting there was now no necessity for a plebiscite cr e hyde remarked that the people had refused the two year term when there was a plebiscite some years ago times and people have chang ed i know confessed cr de tve changed now i would sup port a two ye term if dona by plebiscite and i think tha people themselves would cr a speight claimed tha first year la spent learning the rudiments and at least two years is required before the councillor is of any great value to the town i think a can do a much more efficient job on a two year term said cr speight also endorsing the two yea term cr ballentine told at see ing projects started in on year and never completed with a two year term this shouldnt happen he cl both cr emmenon and may or gibbons felt that they would approve if it were to be submitted to the people a vote in mayor gibbons word now that we do have the er to act without a plebiscite we ahonldnt abuse y pass ing something the peopla re fused soma yean ago raiders bump
