4th seoul- ambitious building projeii which will get under way in th fall after the ceremonies the young guests sat around the campfirc and devoured num crous hot dogs which tlw roast ed on the end of thundejt light nine and heavy ram ceased and the rest of the journey completed in good weather guiders accompanying the brownies were brown owl mr wiener tawny owls mrs car michael and mrs skillinp guide captain mrs dean an 1 mrs berry ranger lieutenant they were assisted by ranger jill cunningham and packie shelley stevenson ann mel combe and linda carmicbael 1st georgetown cubs and scouts tour navy destroyers on saturday morning june 3 sixty cubs and scouts from 1st georgetown group travelled to toronto to lour h m c s haida the haida is a tribal class destroyer of ww ii vintage berthed at row joanne scaton heather li uott cathy lindsay allison ilcndcrson also came to the girl guides after receiv ing her golden bar the girl guides welcomed their new members then trticv all played some games and closed their meeting with taps georgetown air rangers win trophy at hespeler weekend the long weekend proved lo be both exciting and rewarding to five members of the flrm georgetown air rangers fit at about 9 30 saturday morn ing they left georgetown tn attend the steer rover rangt at hespeler a centennial pro ject put on bj the first hcspcl cr rover crew to show what rangers and rovers arc the townspeople were invlt cd to a steak barbecue dlnn and then a tour of the display and campsites of visiting ran crs and rovers rangers rb ved competitions for the day included dart throwing sawing wood tug of war and a gimc of tippy played like baspball only with broken hockey sticks saturday ended with a dance sunday morning begin with a rangers rovers own a oiurch service organised by rangers and rovers themselves that was held in the early morn ing sunshine of hespeles park after this about seventy five rangers and rovers lined up for breakfast final closing was at 12 fire they learned how to make them selves comfortable and turn the camp into a home away from home the fact that they were able to survive the cold weekend weather should qual ify them to withstand all the rigors of the outdoor life the rckend however w as not a case of all work and no play as the cub- found lime for games and hikes 1 cather- craft added to the variety as the boys made link belts and name tags for themselves the program from sunday morning included a church ser vice and a scout s own since no camp is complete without a campfrre each day closed with a singing and story telling in a friendly get to-gelh- er around the names a num bcr of scouts from a neighbour ing camp were invited to join the company and one of them added the strains of a guitar to the harmon camp broke up monday after i noon with the cubs departing i wiser happier and tired the same might be said for the lea ders who were mrs gordon douglas ross colter mrs terry colter debbie young mary hay
