was served to nearly 850 and thi hot dog booth waa kept ncarh as iius with over 600 hot dojs consumed dunng the afternoon on display in the grounds was an old slcm engine with its shrill v hi tic causing excite ment in old buggy and an old ford car of interest in the ev enin mounted on a car trail er was a covered wagon pulled bv 3 team of carved wooden horses tompletc with leather harness and a driver which had been mado bv cj1cv armst rong of georgetown ponv rides in charge of bill donaldson was a favourite spot for the oungsters the sports events run by mrs ken ewen were enjoyed by the institute the georgetown pipe band par aded and played several selec tions they were followed by guard of honour composed of 6 representatives from each of the guides scouts cubs and venturers carrying their flags they took their place on each sido in front of the cairn the members of the institute follow ed most wearing old time cos tumes and stood behind the cairn mrs graydon cheater welcomed those present and in troduced mr pat patterson master of ceremonies who in troduccd dr h harley mp for halton county dr harley spoke briefly on the history of the bell and of the women s institute he called on mrs joe murray the former mane smcl lie present president of the wi to unveil the cairn which was draped in a white cloth on which the institute crest in blue had been painted mrs harold smellic the former grace fid lor rang the bell for the last time and mrs ed mclean the former dorothy watson fast ened the bolts on the plaque they were chosen to perform these duties as fendley who built the cairn a large crowd gathered for the street dance in the evening in front of rabsons store and the post office however it just nicely got started when the heavy rain forced them to move inside the parish hall which was soon full to capacity norm hannsworth was in charge of the music for the square and round dancing many old timers enjoyed mee ting each other over the week end
