discussion of bringing von services to georgetown in the mail bag 50 council increase cant be justified speeches but when safely in the scat just prior to considera tion of the budget estimates to sidle in with a fifty per cent increase therein lies the wrong mr morrow you can rationalize all you like in print and out of it but the move was is and will re main so unjustified if the pos ition is proving not worth the stated amount when you appli ed you should resign not change the rules- io suit your self j had you stated from the plat- form that this was one of your intentions yon would not have been there today just as with the two year term which even now has nev er gone to the public for a dec- 17 chclvin drive ision this latest move shows georgetown ontario the contempt that elected rep resentatives show for the voters once the seat is theirs i do trust the employees of the corporat ion will fare as well in their negotiations for an increase may others besides mrs hall and myself have long memories dear sir after some years as an active follower of community affairs and letters to the editor on many sabjecls i was on the point of making comments fol lowing the letters of mrs hall and mrs milward however as both these ladies have now dis covered protesters are usually ignored because the general public is apathetic were they not such motions as the pay increase would not pass with out so much adverse comment as to make them an embarrass- ment to the mover however mrs hall i agree with you and add my voice to yours in disgust though not in surprise at this latest example of arrogance once the election posters are off the lawns the ridiculous and pointless argument put forward by cr morrow is a futile attempt at justifying bad government it once again indicates that com munity betterment is not the first consideration in seeking election it indicates again that the elector who must pay the bill has little chance to guide the courso of the community the good councillor fails to re mark that most increases obtai ned through strike action for example as in the recent ont ario hydro caso arc kept to be tween 12b to 20 and that i think shows the wrong with this council motion i do not believe that anyone would have argued against a reasonable in crease in remuneration what is wrong is that none of the pros pective councillors mentioned even the thought of applying for an increase in their election yours truly hugh powell georgetown animal clinic 106 guelph street please note the following changes in appointment hours effectively immediately monday
