several lily fanciers brought in for competition exhibits inclu ding many varieties of lilies making jcnoz church hall a colorful and scented room the society has never before held a flower show primarily for li lies s was however considered an extra event jor this year as in terest in sly culture has grown somewhat in the district r s barber chairman of the flower show committee master minded the compiling of an en try list and placing of entries for judging as his high ama teur status in lily culture over many years qualified him for this extra task mr barber is also president of hospital on august 24 she was 53 the former amy margaret fendley she was a member of a brampton family long assoc iated with the flower business she was named after her pater nal grandmother amy dale one of the original members of bramptons dale estate her father the late c r fendley had his own florist business in brampton and she worked with him after her schooling in brampton high school and brampton business college she had been employed with a floral design firm j 0 grain ger co in toronto and for three years before her marriage in 1941 she was manager of amy dale flowers on st clair avenue west in the city bom in brampton she spent her early childhood in norval after their marriage mr and mrs pearce lived in brampton for two years where she was employed in the towns munic ipal office and registry depart ment in 1945 they moved to collingwood where she manag ed smart brothers florists for ten years she belonged to the womens institute and rebekah lodge there and was a member of a ladies organization in all saints anglican church when she moved to georgetown she continued to be active as an institute and rebekah member holding several offices in the lodge joined the daughters of the church at st georges an glican and the rotary annes aji avid camper she had be longed to the badminton and tennis club of grace united church brampton and the church cgit flowers were her business and her hobby she attended several schools in floral design at guclph oac and in toronto and she was much in demand as a speaker and demonstrator on floral ar ranging she leaves her husband two sons ernest 81b main street north and edward at home ber mother mrs margaret mc- dermott fendley brampton and brothers and sisters mrs s a helen cox of barrie mrs w ruth clark of toron to it is hoped that all amateur gardeners in town and district will avail themselves of the opportunity to compete and or visit the show at any time competition at all society flower shows is open to the general public member ship in the society is necessary award however to become a recipient wins from this herd included the junior and grand champion bull scotsdale consort the reserve junior and reserve grand champion bull scotsdale citation the reserve senior champion bull scotsdale bul lion the senior and grand champion female scotsdale uvira rosebud and the res erve junior champion female scotsdale flossy cora other scotsdale wins included first in get of sire pair of bulls and group of four r w gardhouse milton was a contender throughout winning first in 1968 female class with abcrfeldy lady tess 2nd later going on to junior championship among the gard house wins were fourth in sen ior bull class fifth junior year- line bull second in group of four this herd was also run nerup for the premier breeder the rcvd eric mills conduc ted the funeral service at the harold c mcclure home and interment has been appointed unit princ ipal for southcotc alberton of awards and
