about the- festi val fate to all north halton achools parents representative and organizations which give donations and interested indiv iduals j the wellattended meeting was held in the robert little school staff ivom in acton at the last meeting of tho association in october those pj sent had agreed that despite a healthy bank balance the fes tival could not continue in its present form replies to the questionnaire from scho i ag reed but a majority of sponsor ing groups sent replies which indicated they would like the festival to continue in its pre sent form 14 opposed the problem has arisen with the disappearance in some s xrts of th itinerant music teacher a some sponsors re plied they would like to see these music specialists return ed rather than a consultant supervising the classroom tea cher several sponsors indicat ed the decision on change should be ide by the teachers and schools concerned there were 22 north halton schools and 20 other groups or individual which replied to the questionnaires the principals school reports showed 14 opposed to continu- fnrm one in favour with reser vations and four with no opin ion ctot i these schools had participated previously non-compbtitivft- yet in reply to the question asking if heir school would compete in aha next festival 8 schools said yes and js no the schools willing -topartici- pate had taken part m past years and represent abiout 3000 students rom these facts the inter ested members of the assoc iation devised the sch oe of continuing the festival tins year stressing the noncompeti tive concert following the usual competitive music classes to the evening concert schools which had not ma singers to compete could send entries ing the f- discussed were the inclusion of an art display orchestra rhythm band or gym team plot changes the new executive was lam- ed with vice president ray morrison moving up to presid ent past p ndent is james zehr ralph mckeown rejoined after sevtral years as vice pre sident returned to office were mrs glenda benton as secretary treasurer mrs j frost as tro phy convener and mrsts brun- elle and mrs k mcphail as as sistants to the trophy conven er when volunteers were sought to serve on the committee to plot future changes in the festival those who promptly indicated their willingness were jack re id ken trowbridge w d e smith mrs frost and mrs mcphail t y have the power to add to their number for advice in specific fields such as adding art or drama o the festival public support for the festival next spring d sses and places must be el nged transportation costs could be arranged he also felt parent should assist if they desired he saw no reason why the fes tival should suffer because there are no itinerant music teachers and that with sick children mrs gisby introduced mrs bird who spoke on public re lations during her comments she suggested a w l hall of fame- mrs gisby and mrs noble related soma highlights of w x activities of
