This is the conclusion that the committee of business men who^Tiave been han- dling the proposition came to Mon- day. For the past few days the commit- tee has been in conference with offi- cials of the Chicago Motor Transfer company trying to reach some agree- ment whereby the North End of this city could be given a bus line to be operated temporarily at least. Certain details could not be agreed upon by the committee and the offi- cials of the company and all hope of the proposed route taking in the North End has been given up by the business -men*------------- It has also been announced that the j^UssesJndgL_coverlng the route in the RAISED ^HANDSOME BJND six tons and stands high una'is a like Another giant stone about four feet distance broad, at Winnetka is also being strongly considered, x Typewriter W Years Ahead is We lewriter For 700 . / , y;: ., ■ , ■------■,:..'.v;!. ■,-, ■ /:[,;..... . „ ■■■■ ; ORNEY8-AT-LAW MAUCOLM a. Miss Harriett Vittum, head of the Settlement, assisted by scores of volunteer co-eds, labored incessantly during the entire day and were rewarded at the close with a realization that much had been 'ac- complished toward making possible a marked improvement in conditions among the Settlement charges. Even before students began appear- ing for 8 o'clock classes, the ap- pointed fair co-eds had taken their places and from then on a rich har- vest was realized. No person within shouting distance, whether freshman or professor, escaped, all knowing that they must "fall for it" sooner or later, as one student expressed it, ing_ a_ trial of the motor bus line was started by several of the business men. Meetings were h.eld and the subject was thoroughly discussed.
