Enos Bacon is not only a, singer, but has occupied nearly all the great pulpits of England, Scotland, Australia and Canada. It is said of him that he can sing in the voice of the rich contralto, producing most marvelous tones; then he will sudden- ly change to a baritone and that voice will be full, round and rich. Wilmctte office. 1157 Wilmette Ave. Tetepkose 640 ^fafei****^ AT THE EVANSTON THEATER For a laughmaker "Buster Brown," the fascination at the Evanston this week, is the finest little giggle-pro- voker that has glistened behind the footlights of the local playhouse in many a moon. This charming mu- sical comedy was composed with one express object, that is, to produce laughter and make the audience for- get for the time being the woes of the high cost of living. That it suc- ceeds in its mission is certain. A glance over the audience when Tige, Mary Jane and Buster are "cutting up" will prove the authenticity of this statement The production differs entirely from the usual character of dramas pro- duced all too frequently and proves a pleasant relief from the popular scene of the villain stabbing the lover just on the eve of the wedding. The play is not thrilling. Neither is it exciting to the extent of straining a person's nerves. But there is a laugh coming every minute, so what more can a per- son desire! The play is a short one of only two acts,, but it creates as much mirth during this time as the usual long ones do when you begin to yawn awaiting the curtain to drop. Strange as it may seem to local theater-goers, Miss Johnstone, as Mrs. Brown, and Mr. Minturn, as Buster's papa, indulge in some graceful and artistic dancing: Mr. Minturn also proves extremely adept at "pounding" the piano. Buster proves a very attractive and clever lad, as we expected, and he is ably assisted by the antics of Tige and cute little Mary Jane. Miss Rus- sell's singing is wholesome and com- pares favorably with the comedy stunts of Mr. Satterlee. As the kind old grandmother Miss Allen appears real.
