THE LAKE SHORE NEWS, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1917 THE LAKE SHORE NEWS, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1917 i TO THE WOMEN OF WILMETTE 6 y//////////////////i'/"////j/;/s/s/. r^^/, -^Z>}7/7y, »»»W^^ yx-^^yx^x<//x/x/^/y/y/wy^^^ >y/>>v/v^////>vr//yv>vv/v>vv//>V/'///v//^^ ! tj The New Trier Commercial Association was requested by the women of Wilmette to call a meeting of the grocers and butchers of Wilmette for the purpose of discussing plans that would enable the local business men to conform to the prices set by Mr. Harry A. Wheeler, food administrator for Illinois, and to co-operate with the local organizations in carrying out the national conservation program as outlined by President Woodrow Wilson. The delivery systems operated by the individual grocers were charged with being a lack of conservation and one of the greatest wastes of materials and labor. As the result of this meeting I appointed a committee to investigate the local conditions and recommend changes that would be beneficial and instrumental in co-operating with the women s organi- zations in their efforts to conserve the foodstuffs for the nourishment of our boys who are fighting for our liberty. The report of the committee which was accepted on Tuesday evening, Nov. 6, recommends the "F. O. B. Counter Pan." Trusting that the women of Wilmette will respond as readily as the grocers liave responded, I sincerely urge them to sign the Patriotic Pledge Card for the successful fulfillment of this plan, which has been selected by the grocers* committee.
