The dedication services will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 15, at 4 o'clock, and the reception is to take place the following afternoon and evening between the hours of 3 and 9 o'clock. ---------------4--------------- THE Woman's Christian Temperance Union will meet with the Ladies Aid society of the Glencoe Methodist church, at the home of Mrs. William S. Hamra, 270 Scott avenue, Hubbard Woods, on Tuesday afternoon of next week at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. Eugene Teal of Wilmette, and Mrs. Georgia Mercy of Chicago, will address the meeting. Vocal duets will be rendered by Mrs. C. B. Watson and Mrs. E. C. Cole. The story of the Pine Mountain Settlement school was told in an interesting manner on Monday after- noon at the Winnetka Woman's club before a group of women from all of the towns along the north shore. Mrs. Ethel DeLong- Zande, who is one of the directors of the school, came to Evaustoti after an absence of several years to describe the prog- ress which the little people of the Kentucky mountains have been mak- ing in the school which was founded six years ago after a solicitation of funds, part of which were subscribed along the north shore. She told the story of "Uncle Wil- liam's" dream and how happy the -old man is because the land which he gave to the school is being put to such good use. "The school helps the children of the mountain to co-operate," said Mrs. Zande. "so that now when they have arguments they do not settle their disagreements with knives or guns. We are furnishing medical help to the mountain people, who for- merly were as superstitious as the savages who believe that disease can lie cured by making a cross on the chest. We are teaching them to live right livs." "We are showing them the wicked- ness of liquor. But you should not be too hasty in your judgment of these mountain people who make moonshine. The means of transport- ing their harvest of corn to market "is very difficult and when you con- sider the vast amount of work neces- sar)r to raise the grain it is no wonder that the men will make moonshine which they can sell for $40 a gallon, now that prohibition has come. They must be occupied at something, too. "Our Uncle William Creech, whose life has been spent in the Kentucky mountains, has sent the evils of liquor and ignorance and for thirty years had wished to start such a school as we now have." If you want to help bring clown the present high cost of living, never buy without first asking the price, says the Woman's Department of the Fair Price Commission of Illinois. "But that's not enough!" says Mrs. Joseph T. Bowen, state chairman. the prices fixed by the Commission is punishable by a fine and imprison- ment or both. Complaint cards and other infor- mation can be obtained by writing to Mrs. Paul Lobanoff,. 11J8 Greenleaf avenue, Wilmette. -.^•'"/"••1.':f*-;-'"-yV£ North shore members of the Evans- ton Political Equality league, as well as Woman's club members are in- terested in the opening of the vic- tory convention of the National Am- erican Woman Suffrage association, which was held yesterday in Chicago. Women of note were in charge of the six conferences on subjects of the day, and of the six leaders, one was an Evanston woman, Mrs. Catherine Waugh McCulloch. Conference dinners were held at various of the Chicago hotels, and were attended by numerous north shore people. Dr. Milter, osteopath; offices in North Shore Hotel Bldg. Phone Evanston 6421. â€"Adv. The Fair Price Commission issues weekly a statement of the prices which wholesalers may charge re- tail dealers, and the prices which re- tailer dealers may charge the public. Their price list, issued in Chicago, arc furnished to a Commissioner in each district of the state, who adds to the fair retail price the necessary cost of transporting the goods from the nearest wholesale center. With a Fair Price List to refer to, the purchaser knows how much he should pay for the staple articles of food. If asked more, a complaint card fdled out by hirn will be acted upon by the U. S.
