U. in Fort Woth, Texas, from which she had returned. "The next step will be the eradica- tion of that ancient superstition that alcohol has value in medicine," said Mrs. J. K. Shepard of Virginia at the convention. "The surgeon-generals of the army and navy are only awaiting enough physicians to lend their co-operation to remove alcohol supplies from the naval and military hospitals," she added. "The W. C. T. U. for years opposed the use of alcohol for medi- cinal purposes, and it is our inten- tion to begin a more vigorous attack to have it done away with entirely." »â€" Thursday morning, February 26, at 10:30 O'clock conies the annual gal- lery tour of the Wilmette Woman's club at the Art Institute. At this time the works of Chicago artists ar eon exhibition. Members of the North Shore women have been following closely the reports of the various meetings of the National Woman Suffrage association which was held in Chicago these last few days. A plea for the eight hour working day for men and women alike, for suffrage fixed by law on a basis of educational requirements, and for the staunch support of the ideals and principles of American- ism, was made Tuesday night by Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt before an assemblage at Orchestra- Hall, Chi- cago. Mrs. Catt urged her hearers to affiliate at once with the political parties, but cautioned them against "stand pat" politics, and the role of followers in the political party. "The« isr too much dust at the rear of the procession and too much crowding in the middle for you to be there," she said. "Your place is at the head where the air is clear and stimulating. I have heard some criticism that we have been a little radical in some of the things we advocate. I don't think we've adopted a single radical thing. "Some have said an eight hour law for women is asking too much. Then let us make it an eight hour law for men and women together. Is there any one today who doubts that the eight hour day is coming all around the wrold?" "Legislation banning alcohol in medicine is one of the most import- ant problems of the future for the W. C. T. U.," said Miss Anna Gordon, j national president of the organiza- THE MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE West Chicago Ave. and North La Salle St. Announces Bible Expositions Every Sunday Afternoon at 4 BVTHE Rev.
