14 THE LAKE SHORE NEWS, JRIDAY, APRIL 14, 1922 To Give Three preat Anni- versary Concerts Singers well known on the north shore are to appear in the programs of the Fiftieth Anniversary concerts to be given by the Apollo Musical Club of jQricago-May 1, 2 and 3 at Or^ chestra Hall. Among the prominent soloists are such familiar vocalists as Mary Welch, .soloist at the Wilmette Congregational church; Gladys Swartout, Ethel Bene- dict, Walter Allen Stultz of North- western University, and Eugene Dress- ier. Edgar Nelson is the organist. ~ - Open Fund Camoaign The Apollo club, which has appeared frequently before Wilmette Sunday Evening club audiences, is directed by Harrison M. Wild. The club is to __launch a maintenance fund campaign '-â€"in conjunction writh the observance of its Fiftieth season. The Rogers Park group formed a choral so- ciety, and as time went on the 'Marshall Field, the Carson, Pirie, Scott & Co., the Edison, the Sears- Roebuck and the Swedish singing so- cieties and others grew up in power, always taking members of the Apollo Club as an inspiration and for leader- ship, and to be in a local sense, rivals of the older parent society. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ""On next Sunday morning at 9:30 there will be a general convocation of all the departments of the xscBool in the main auditorium of the church. t The program will include an Easter Story, recitations and a number of special songs. Miss Edith Harper, president of the North Division of the Chicago Chris- tian Endeavor Union, will speak at the Christian Endeavor meeting next Sunday evening, 5:30 o'clock.
