Church ; Edgar Albert Gueat, popularly known throughout America as "Eddie Guest, greatest living poet of the country, home and fireside, is to be in Wilmette Saturday, rfpril 22. Mr. Guest, who has been called "America's poet laureate, who has be- jjn¥ the idof of all Amgrica's plain people," comes to Wilmette under the auspices of the Junior choir of the First Methodist chureh. He will lee, ture and read from his poems in the auditorium of that church, having con tributed his services to enable the Junior choir to raise a fund sufficient to defray the expense of the purchase tfrf c&oir robes. A small admission fee is to be charged to insure this amount. While Edgar Guest is known the world over as a great poet, it must be emphasised also that he is also a re- .^narkable speaker, bearing a message df homely, everyday truths, at once in- spiring and interest compelling, the a'owfrihe of plain Americanism of which too little is being preached in "this modern day. If you have always thought of a [ poet as a ; queer, uncanny sort of freak with long hair, his eye in a 'fine frenzy rolling' and awful-clothes, you will be very much ^surprised when you go to see and hear Eddie Guest. You will say to yourself, *Why I must be at the wrong meeting. That fellow's not a poet, he's a prosperous little automobile salesman. ' . _ "And that's just the way he strikes you.
