Iduction since a temporary advance Commerce Commission Gives was allowed on July 31, 1920, to meet Company Credit war-time necessities. Tribute was paid recently by the Illinois Commerce commission to the fixed policy of the Public Service company of serving its Z^U.UUU cus- tomers at the lowest possible rates. The commission commended the company's gas and electric plants, •ind declared the gas plants to be better than the majority of. similar plants in the state. . The present operating condition was stated to be approximately 87.5 per cent. In the north shore district the operating condition, according to J. S. Reeseman, manager, is 96.45 per cent for electricity, and 88.63 for gas. The commission thinks that the rates charged and collected are not excessive or unjust to the consumers. However, according »to the announce- ment of the commission, the present rate "A" general lighting service will be reduced one cent per kilowatt hour effective last Wednesday, and an additional one cent on January 1, 1924, for electricity used equivalent to or less than the first thirty hours used per month of the maximum de- mand in the month.
