Young Beloian and Verhalen, who reside at 311 and 310 Third street, respectively, last Friday afternoon noticed two suspicious appearing characters in the vicinity of Golf terrace. They immediately notified Superintendent Denman, who dispatched a Flivver squad to the vicinity. The men were arrested on suspicion and brought to headquarters where by a clever ruse. On the way to the station the suspected youths who gave their names Edwin Johnson and Ernest Preston slipped a revolver and blackjack under the rear seat of the police car. Upon being searched at headquarters they were found to have 26 rounds of ammunition and a revolver pouch besides Several blank checks on a Chicago bank. Major Denman succeeded in obtaining a complete confession of a score of, astonishing check forgeries and robberies.
