Young, known na- tionally as "Chicago's Poet-Priest" was in Wilmette last Thursday to assist in the Silver wedding anniversary of his cousin, Mr. John A. Hoffmann, Ridge avenue. Rev. Young is a former pupil of St. Joseph's school and, therefore, it is of particular interest to the people of this community to know that his verses are used by over 200 leading daily secular papers, that over 40 broadcasting sta- tions in all parts of the country are using his poems as feature numbers. Periodically his works are heard from KYW, or WJAZ or WMAQ, Chicago. Wrote War Poem During the war he wrote "We March to Victory," for which he was highly commended in a personal letter from President Wilson, forty-three Governors and many notables. Other verse and prose of marked distinction has come from his pen. His "In Memoriam," oc- casioned by the death of President Harding, was published in the Chicago Evening American and, within a week spread to all sections of the country. His many old friends were glad to see him and he seemed very delighted to be m Wilmette again. He is now sta- tioned at St. Raphael's church, 60th and Justine streets, Chicago. At the banquet, Rev. Joseph Lauer- mann, brother of Mrs. Hoffmann, re- quested the poet to write a poem. J ] KENILWORTH TO HAVE A "NEW TRIER NIGHT The evening of Wednesday, January 23, will be "New Trier Night" in Kenilworth. On that night, through the co-operation of the Neighbors, there will be a gathering of parents and friends of high school and elemen- tary school children to hear talks about New Trier High school. Edward J. Phelps, president of the New Trier High school Board of Edu- cation; Leslie F. Gates, chairman of the Finance committee of the board, and Frederick Edson Clerk, superin- tendent of the school will be the speakers. The general subject matter of the talks will concern facts regarding the development of the high school, its present status, and prospects for the future. All persons of the north shore inter- ested in the work of New Trier High school are invited to attend the meet- ing, and more particularly those who reside in or near Kenilworth. Logan P. T. A. To Hold Sleigh Party Tonight Weather permitting, members and friends of the Logan school Parent- Teacher association will hold a sleigh- ing party this evening, the party to be made up at the Logan school. The sleigh will leave the school at 7:30 o'clock for an hour's ride after which there will be refreshments and a program of music at the school. A small fee will be charged those who attend the party and it is stipulated that children must be accompanied by some responsible person.
