McCarthy, Edward J. (Died)

Funeral services for Edward J. McCarthy, 834 Sheridan road, Wilmette, who died suddenly on Monday at his dairy farm on the Du Page river near Joliet. Services were held Wednesday morning at St. Patrick's Church in Joliet. Burial took place at Calvary cemetery in Evanston. Mr. McCarthy, a contractor,who had been engaged in paving and road construction in Illinois for for more than fifty years, was 74 years old. At on time he wa deputy controller of Cook county under Robert M. Sweitzer. He was a former president of the John V. McCarthy company and had remained active in its management. Three sons and two daughters survive Mr. McCarthy. The sons are John V. McCarthy of Joliet, Edward J. McCarthy, Jr. of Rogers Park, and Gerald F. McCarthy of Wilmette. The daughters are Mrs. Joseph A. Kolb and Miss Edith A. McCarthy, both of Wilmette.
