Rev. Stephen A. Lloyd accepts local church [First Congregational Church]

Rev. Stephen A. Lloyd of the First Congregational Church of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., has accepted the pastorate of the Wilmette Congregational Church. The call was extended to Rev. Lloyd by the whole [?] church about two weeks ago, and on last Sunday the members were notified of his acceptance. He will begin his pastorate about January 1 [unclear].
Meets all Requirements
A committee of the church has been engaged since last May canvassing many [illegible]...and the church membership were unanimous that the new pastor will be a splendid [illegible] member to the church and community life of Wilmette. Rev. Lloyd's first work in life was when at the age of 12 he became a coal miner. He remained at this work for 8 years until he was able to prepare for college. He therefore understands the point of view and problems of self-made men. He received his higher education at Syracuse University, Columbia University, Union Theological Seminary and Auburn Seminary.
Authority on Child Psychology
In addition to having served in pastorates in Poughkeepsie, Brooklyn and Burland, N.J., Mr. Lloyd has been active on the lecture platform. He has made a specialy of child psychology and has appeared frequently before parent-teacher associations and conventions of Sunday school workers. In New York he has been prominent in state church work, as well as in patriotic, masonic and civic activities.- Featured Link
