- Edward DeSmith of Wilmette, 82, died Sept. 11 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. Born in Glenwood City, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane; two step-children, Judy Heit of Midland, Mich., and Stephen Marianetti of Northbrook; four step-grandchildren, Stephanie Heit, and Steve, Christopher and Gina Marianetti; and five sisters, Emily Tiberg, Genevieve Stone, Irene Scholl, Claira Amundson, and Anegela Nelson, all of Wisconsin.
