Notes: Robert G. Ely, a native Chicagoan, died September 14 in Sonoma, California. He was 90. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Griffin and Ester Head Ely of Kenilworth; his wife, Elizabeth M. Ely of Evanston; a second wife, Sarah Ellen Moss Phetteplace Ely of Erwin; and a brother, Frank, of Glencoe. Survivors include one son, Robert Merrill Ely of Chicago; two daughers, Joann (Jim) Berger of Santa Rosa, California; and Susan E. (Jerry) Rooks of Beaverton, Oregon; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
