Notes: Arthur C. Nielsen Sr. of Winnetka, who founded the company that conducts the famed Nielsen radio and television ratings, died Sunday in Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. He was 82. He was born and reared in Berwyn. His father immigrated from Denmark. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude to whom he was married for 63 years; two sons, Arthur C. Jr., and Philip R., both of Winnetka; three daughters, Margaret Stiegele, Barbara Nielsen-Whitcomb and Virginia Upton; 14 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
