Mrs. Carlson died Saturday last after a long illness.

A dime social was given by the ladies of the First M. E. [Methodist Episcopal] Church Friday evening at the residence of Mrs. L. J. Pierson.

The petition for a special election to vote on the question of annexation to Evanston has been presented and an order returned and the election set for Feb. 27.

The members of the board of trustees were surprised to receive a bill for $211 from the engineer for services from J an. 1 to 19. It was fully understood that the engineers completed their work on Jan. 1. The bill ws laid on the table.

The meeting of citizens on Thursday evening, to listen to the report of the committee on annexation was well attended. The principal speakers were Messrs. Burge, Gage, McLean, and Pierson, and much interest was manifested although it took some time for the people to get enthused. Another meeting will probably be called at an early date.

At the Congregational church, Rev. E. B. Dean, pastor. Preaching at 10:45 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Sunday-school at 12. Christian Endeavor society at 6:30 p.m.

At the First Methodist Church, Rev. H. G. Leonard, pastor. Preaching at 10:45 a.m. an 7:30 p.m. Sunday-school at 12. Junior League at 3:30 p.m.

At the St. Augustine Episcopal church there will be morning prayer at 11 a.m. Sunday School at 10 a.m.

IN MEMORIUM. The Sunday-school of the Methodist church has unanimously passed the following resolutions in regard to the death of Mrs. M. E. Barker and her son. The Sunday-school of the First Methodist Episcopal church, of Wilmette, has learned with profound sorrow, of the death of Mrs. M. E. Barker and of Charlie, her son. Mrs. Barker endeared herself to the entire school and especially to the large class of young people, who ever found in her a bright and helpful teacher. Her presence was an inspiration to all associated with her. The school will greatly miss her cheerful council and ready help. We shall also miss Charlie Barker, whose gentle spirit and kindly ways made him beloved by teacher and scholars. Resolved, That this school extend its sympathy to Mr. Barker, Myra and Junior, and that we assure them of our prayers in their behalf to our Father in Heaven, that He will comfort and sustain them in this hour of great sorrow. VILLAGE BOARD An adjourned meeting of the village board was held Feb. 1, 1894, with president S. S. Dingee in the chair and a full board present. The Report of he superintendent on protecting sidewalks was received and adopted. The report of the superintendent of public works on collections ws receied and referred to the finance committee. Petition for sidewalk on the east side of Fifth street and received referred to the street and alley committee. A communication from Close Bros. received and referred to the attorney to report at the next meeting. The report of the finance committee on specials 12 and 13 were received and ordered filed. The usual batch of bills were approved and ordered paid. The bond to raise money for the fire department was read and approved. Bill of Alexander & Hill for $211 was received and laid on the table. On motion the president and clerk were ordered to execute a bond for $1,000, as per ordinance No. 318. The bond was numbered One, and dated Feb. 1, 1894, payable in five years. On motion by trustee Spencer it was ordered that the men employed by Mr. Westerfield to repair leaks in the water mains be paid out of the amount due Mr. Newcomer.
