- Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert H. Scribner, 812 Ash street, Winnetka, were notified last week that their son, 1st Lt. William Van Dyke Scribner, died April 13 in Germany from wounds incurred in action. A memorial service for Lieutenant Scribner, who was born in Milwaukee, December 3, 1919, will be held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in Christ church chapel, Winnetka, with the Rev. E. Ashley Gerhard officiating. Besides his parents, Lieutenant Scribner is survived by a brother, Lt. Gilbert Hilton Scribner, Jr., USNR, and three sisters, Mrs. John D. Blossom, Jr., Mrs. William T. Kirke IV, and Miss Mary Douglas Scribner.
