- Thirty-two cars of coal have arrived along with a break in the cold snap to relieve a fuel supply crisis. Comments by local fuel administrator, Irving C. Brower. Irving organized a coal bin census with the aid of the reserve militia in Wilmette. Captain A. H. Howard of Company D of the Illinois reserves assigned fifteen men to assist the fuel administration.
