- A. S. Van Deusen, Sr., 72, died on Tuesday of last week. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, September 17, 1860. In 1891 he established the Van Deusen grocery store in Evanston. In 1904 he acquired the present Van Deusen Grocery at Central Avenue and Twelfth Street, and in 1915 the store was enlarged to include a meat market. The store is now operated by his son, Arthur S. Van Deusen, Jr. The surviving members of his family are his widow, two sons, Archibald B. of Motors Sevice, Inc., who resides at 2011 Beechwood Avenue, Wilmette, and Arthur S., of the grocery and market, who resides at 1401 Lincoln Street, Evanston; and a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Van Deusen Law, also of Evanston.
