New Trier Swim Club ends short course season

Swimmers from New Trier Swim Club completed the short course season under first-year coach Bob Kizer with top finishes in two major championship meets. Mentioned were Emily Dominski, Alisa Finn, Kate Shumway, Elizabeth Clarke, Betsy Webb. At the Illinois Age Group Championships March 16-18, New Trier placed third. Max Grodecki, 12, claimed state titles in several events. Team of Alex Karahalios, Grace Ford, Kara Lucenti and Claire Rushin placed first in the 10 and under age group in the 200 freestyle relay. 12-year-olds Grodecki, Nels Snyder, Daniel Whitcomb and Sam Skinner won the 400 medley relay.

LIndsey Dattels, Wilmette, helped Middlebury College swim team earn 10th place finish at the NCAA Championships.

Peter Dykstra, Wilmette, is on track team at University of Wisconsin. He earned a third place in the pentathlon at the Badger Track Classic and a seventh in the pentathlon at the Big Ten Championships in February.

Elise Menaker, (Wilmette) helped the Cornell University squad to it's best softball start in school history.
