- Abandoned railroad property through Wilmette, Glenview, Northfield and Northbrook might be converted into a 6.5 mile paved bicycle trail. About 100 bicycle enthusiasts and residents living near the Union Pacific right-of-way attended a meeting on the plans for the so called North Shore Trail April 19 at a workshop organized by the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation. Challenges include crossing of eight roads including busy intersections at Lake-Cook and Dundee roads, Sunset Ridge Road and East Lake Avenue. A feasibility study is expected to calculate how much it would cost to establish the North Shore Trail.
