- The Company left Wilmette Saturday morning and after mess at Camp Logan erected thirteen tents. Company "D" was well represented for the first 24 hours of this encampment. Lieutenant J. R. MacFarland was officer of the guard, and Sergeant Karl King was Sergeant of the guard. Private McAlister was pronounced the finest soldier of the guard and was detailed as orderly to the commanding officer. He had to cope with arrests and fires as orderly.
Eight men from Captain Mannerud's Company joined our Company in the encampment bringing the total to 48 men. Private Mulvey was taken ill and had to go home Sunday night. The usual Monday evening drill was omitted this week.
Private A. H. Culver and Corporal George L. Wire were both on business trips this week.
The Field musicians for Company "D" were Claude Burback and William White of the Wilmette Boy Scouts.
Quartermaster Sergeant Bower deserves thanks for the supplies be brought for the comfort of the Company.
A large number of themen qualified on the short course range in small arms practice. Several qualified as marksmen. - Date of Publication
