- The Gates homestead, which occupies a triangular space of ground in the 1100 block, Wilmette avenue and frontage on both Wilmette avenue and Eleventh street, has been sold to Henry L. Flentye, 729 Lake Avenue for about $20,000. It is rumored that an apartment building will be placed on the lot with a frontage on Eleventh street. The Wilmette Avenue frontage, it is said, will be held vacant for atime with a view to developing it later. The location is ideal for an apartment building or a hotel on the Eleventh street front and for business houses on Wilmette avenue.
The property has been held in estate for several years by the Gates heirs. Mr. Henry B. Gates, 1126 Wilmette avenue, Mr. C. Frank Gates, and Mr. Herbert Gates. IT was a portion of the estate of Mrs. Mary E. Gates, decased. - Date of Publication
