- In the spring of 1911 a local committee consisting of Messrs. Thomas E. D. Bradley, Robett K. Brown and Edward Zipf, decided to commence religious services in Wilmette using the Woman's Club building for the first services. Rev. Edgar P. Hill, Superintendent of the Church Extension Board preached. In July Rev. J. M. Wilson of Seattle was invited to be pastor. The original committee was inlarged to include Messrs James Crabb, Herbert W. Weld and Ralph H. Rice, Thomas E. D. Bradley was chosen superintendent of the Sunday School. Land at the northeast corner of Ninth Street and Greenleaf Avenue was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zipf for construction of a church. The cornerstone was laid September 22, 1912. Dr. John Halsom Shaw of Chicago delivered the address. Description of the church building.
The Finnish young women of the village meet at the church Thursday afternoons in a social way and on Sundays for a religious service in Finnish. Description of other church activities and goals.
