Samuel S. Greeley, the oldest graduate of Harvard University and one of the first civil engineers to settle in Chicago, died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ethel M. Copeland, at Winnetka. Mr. Greeley was 92 years old. The death of Dr. James L. Wellington of Swansea, Mass., on February 11 ranked Mr. Greeley up as the oldest Harvard alumnus.

He entered Harvard university at the age of 16 and was graduated in the class of 1844. In 1857 with four other Harvard men he organized the Harvard Club of Chicago in Ambrose & Jackson's old restaurant at 91 Clark street. Mr. Greeley had been employed on many important engineering projects in Chicago and other parts of Illinois.
He leaves two sons, Louis M. Greeley of La Grange, Ill., and Morris L. Greeley of Winnetka, and two daughters, Miss Ruth L. Greeley and Mrs. Ethel M. Copeland.- Featured Link
