- Governor Rod Blagojevich rewrote the 7-percent tax assessment bill, raising the maximum size of the exemption and providing more coverate for owners of pricier homes and those with above-average assessment increases. The Illinois legislature is expected to consider the changes when the lawmakers return to Springfield on Tuesday.
