- Michael Jonscher, Wilmette American Legion Post 46 commander, spoke Sunday during the Veterans Day ceremonies. Others, including Village President Chris Canning, Huerter American Legion Auxiliary president Corie Carp and World War II vet Roy Batterham, also spoke at the event. Sunday, Virginia L. George Zumstein of Wilmette received her father's Purple Heart during a ceremony in Glenview. Zumstein is the daughter of late World War I veteran National Guard Cpl. Hubert Geo9rge.
