- A report by the Urban Land Institute of Chicago outlined possibilities for new shopping and residential development of the land now occupied by Village Hall and several other parcels planners and trustees say are underutilized. The overall concept calls for moving Village Hall either near the police station on Ridge Road or to the lot between the Post Office and Wilmette Public Library, redeveloping the Chase Bank property and Metra Lot into mixed-use developments, and screening a planned parking garage near the library with residential units.
