West End Florist & Garden Center, 3800 Old Glenview Road, Evanston, is celebrating 100 years in business. The nursery was founded by Mathias Hoffmann and his bride Kathryn Loutsch. It passed from father Mathias to son Edwin to grandson George and now to great-granddaughter Elizabeth Hoffman. She believes Edwin dropped the second "n" in the last name to avoid confusion with another greenhouse in the area called Hoffmann's. History of the family and the greenhouse business.
