Illinois Orphan Train Heritage Society executive director Shirley Howenstine of Glenview is promoting a play called "Placing Out" about the Orphan Train phenomenon staged April 11-13 at the Children's Theatre of Elgin & Fox Valley Theatre Company
Wilmette winners of the Barrel of Monkeys performance company's writing contest are Avoca West fifth grader, Danielle Steinberg and second grader Tennessee Fulks, Central School 4th grader Nathasha Powell and Harper School 3rd grader Caroline Fix. They will have their plays perfomed at the Wilmete Theatre on Saturdays through May 3. Honorable mentions include Preston Fulks, Reemadree Monzur, Yasmeen Najar, Dana Munro and Daniella Roth
