- Joanna Rudnick, 33, wrote, directed and produced the documentary film, "In the family," for Kartemquin Films in Chicago. Her film, dealing with the emotional fallout of being testing positive for certain genetic mutations, will be shown nationwide, Oct. 7 on PBS. Rudnick was found to have a mutation predisposing her to breast and ovarian cancer. Rudnick's mother, Cookie Rudnick of Highland Park, survived ovarian cancer. She also has a sister, Dr. Lisa Stempel.
