- Gary Kron bought a motor scooter that gets 60 miles to the gallon. Robert Lager, 77, is taking the train to return to Winona, Minnesota, after a north shore visit. Karen Oehlerking of Gurnee takes her children to nearby KeyLine Cove water park instead of the Wisconsin Dells. Jeffrey Bach of Gurnee has invented a device to inject propane into engines to double their efficiency. The Winthorp Harbor Police Department squads were converted to propane power in 2005. The Karlove family of Northfield plans to buy a compressed gas Honda Civic.
