Obituary: Eugene Holland, retired corporation head, dies

Eugene Holland of Wilmette, former president of the Masonite Corp., died Sept. 13 at Evanston Hospital. Mr. Holland, who retired from Masonite in 1962, was 83. He resided at 1410 Sheridan Rd. Mr. Holland began his business career in Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., where he founded Holland Lumber Co. He held an honorary degree from the University of Nebraska. A past president of Skokie Country Club and a former director of Evanston Hospital, Mr. Holland was a member of the Old Elm Club in Lake Forest and of the Chicago Club. Survivors include his wife, Louise B. Holland; two sons, Laurence B. Holland of Baltimore, Eugene Holland Jr. of Kenilworth and Mrs. John Clarke Alberts of Barrington; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Private services were held. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
