"Chicago of Today," the closing act of the six episodesi n "The History of Chicago" pageant, will show the modern dancing delight of the city in picturesque fashion. A group of Lake Forest young people will represent China and dance the Ta-Tao in the final tableau of "Chicago Now." The Chinese group are Misses Loliat Armour, Grace Meeker, Geneva King, Margaret Carry, Elizabeth Adult, Edith Cummings and Courtney Letts, J. S. McMullin, Louis Houck, W. B. Kelly, Jr., William Hubbard, Dearing Davis and John Hamline. Mrs. J. Ogden Armour is pageant chairman for Lake Forest and Mrs. Arthur Meeker town chairman for the Ravinia Club, under whose auspices the brilliant festival will be given on Friday and Saturday evenings and Saturday matinee at Ravinia Park.
The Fire of 1981
Another dance in which the north shore towns will take part is the "Fire Dance," Showing the city in 1871. Flame spirits and smoke spirits will be represented by Kenilworth and Winntka girls. Misses Evelyn Isom and Nettie Isom, Harriet Stuart, Margaret Fitch, Eleanor Serrell, Priscilla Allen, Agnes Pease, Eleanor Sewell, Cora Clements, Edith Chandler, Olive Bully, Charlotte Parmelee, Louise Ware, Marian Keehn, Elizabeth Kulchar, Helen Farrell, Betty Hoyt, Sarah Hoyt, Margureite Lloyd, Mary Eager Lloyd, Catherine Blossom and Isabel Gilmore.
"Chicago" will be acted by Miss Louise Tennis of Evanston. "Chicago" on her throne wil lbe greeted by symbolic figures; "Art," Miss Hester Washburn; "Literature," Mrs. John Hunter; "Science," Miss Billy Kirkman; "Commerce," Howard Hoyt; "Industry," Ludlow Washburn, and "Music," Miss Rachel Embree.
Coming of the White Man
Earlier episodes in the story of the city begin with "The Coming of the White Man." Highland Park girls who will act as Indian women are Misses Cecil Vail, Margaret Cushing, Marjorie Small, Margaret Deming, Marjorie Louson, Kathleen Bergen, Mildred Swigart, Dorothy Scofield and Lola William. Winnetka's contribution of Indian women to that first act includes Mrs. W. F. Wallace, Mrs. G. B. Calkins, Thyra Ruhland and Ruth Lieber. Children form Glencoe in a little old English dance will be Marian Cassels, Ruth and John Holloway, Helen Pope, Rachel Borncamp and Mary Elizabeth Jasper. Ravinia children will be Marian Rosenwald, Fletcher and Serenity Seymour, Jerry Leaming, John Legler, Le Mar Fearing and Gertrude Fearing. Four hundred young people and children wil lbe in this great historic festival closing the summer society season of the north shore.- Featured Link
