- The Joseph Sears School faculty, staff and administration welcomed back their students the last week of August.
The school community celebrated the start of the school year with a family fun night Aug. 28. Everyone enjoyed games, carnival food and getting caught up on the summer's activities.
School officials thanked the Parents' Volunteer Association for organizing the event.
Following are some upcoming activities:
Sept. 11 -- Patriot day, with an assembly at 8:30 a.m. and a curriculum night program for sixth, seventh and eighth grades at 7 p.m.
Sept. 15 -- Board of Education regular meeting at 7:15 p.m.
Sept. 16 -- Sears cafe begins (advance sign-up is required); curriculum night for third, fourth and fifth grades at 7 p.m.
Sept. 18 -- Curriculum night for junior kindergartners at 7 p.m.
Sept. 19 -- The Parents' Volunteer Association's gift wrap sale begins.
Sept. 22-26 -- ITBS/CogAT Testing Grades 3-7.
Sept. 22 -- Fall chess club sessions get under way.
Sept. 23 -- The Parents' Volunteer Association's board meeting at 8:30 a.m.
Sept. 26 -- School picture day.
