- The Rambler's girls swimming team won the Chicago Girls Catholic League championship league title in 2004 and 2005, fighting off challenger Fenwick.
Once again the two schools met for their annual dual meet Oct. 7 and Loyola came up short 100-86.
Comments by Ramblers coach Dennis Stonequist
who praised the swims of Austin Powers, Madeleine Klichowski, Michelle Garland, Monica Finn, Lindy Navarre, Rachel Neiman, and Ellie and Kate Ansani.
Also mentioned were Emily Levison and Ellie Ansani and diver Erin Dowdle. Loyola competes at Glenbrook South at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Boys soccer
Loyola won its second consecutive Chicago Catholic League crown last week after beating Fenwick 4-0, St. Laurence 6-1, and Brother Rice 4-0. Comments by head coach Rob Etheridge. Team members mentioned include Tommy Belton, Peter Bolton, and Dylan and Spencer Remick, Danny Gauna and John Manganaro.
The Ramblers take the No. 2 seed into their own Class 3A regional on Monday, playing the winner at 4 p.m. of Friday's Chicago Steinmetz-Notre Dame match. The regional champion advances to the Niles North Sectional, where New Trier is seeded No. 1.
Girls cross country
Loyola took sixth out of 24 teams at the Sterling meet Saturday. Team members mentioned include Natalie Kaminski, Anne Marie McGuire, Rachel Price, Siobhan Cooney and Emily Blabolil.
Field hockey
Loyola defeated Deerfield 3-2 last week. Mentioned were Clare Nelson-Johnson and Grace Bowen. The Ramblers dropped a 3-1 match to Glenbard West Friday before recording a 4-0 victory over Latin School on Monday. The Ramblers host Highland Park at 4:45 p.m today (Thursday).
