- Notes
- Tramps and hoboes are now avoiding Wilmette since spring weather has begun. Last winter an innovation in caring for such men was tried. Shelter was given at the village jail in the basement of the village hall and improvised beds, with blankets were offered. Citizens provided food through donations to a fund to purchase coffee, bread and rolls. As many as thirty-five and forty men were given shelter during the night last winter. During mild weather, the service will not be provided.
