Notes
Wilmette District 39 staff and Avoca District 37, under the legislation of the state of Illinois, provide free educational screening for preschool-age children that live in the District 39 or District 37 communities. The purpose of the screening is to identify developmental delays in children. Nurses also complete a brief vision and hearing screening. This screening is not for advanced placement in school or for kindergarten readiness. Three-, 4- and 5-year-old children who have not entered kindergarten are eligible for the preschool screening. The screening is conducted by Wilmette District 39 and held at Romona School, 600 Romona Road, Wilmette. To schedule your child's preschool screening appointment, please contact Kathy Hughes if you reside in Wilmette District 39. If you are a resident of Avoca District 37, please contact Cindy Devin.
Preschool screening dates are: Jan. 9, 2009 and March 13, 2009.
If you have questions or concerns about making an appointment, please call the coordinator for the Connecting Kids Preschool, Julie Lavra.
