- Avoca West Elementary School held its annual book fair in the library during the first
week of December. Over
the course of the three day event, more than
$17,000 worth of books
were sold to support literacy and Avoca School District 37's Parents and
Teachers Council. The fair
was the joint effort of
many of Avoca West's
teachers, parents and
staff members.
On Dec. 3, a special literacy night was held with
story time and music. The
evening was organized by
Connie Barker, a kindergarten teacher at the
school. Other participating teachers included
Kelly Nienhaus, Ellie
Kaiser, Emily Hargadon,
Amy Riemer, Gabriel
Paynter, Marcia Kraut,
Barbara Vogelstein,
Sophia Kondo, Grace Lee,
Mary Rosic, Dave
Hoffheinier, Janis Michael
and kids, parent Ennie
Yoo, and Avoca West Principal Kevin Jauch.
The organization
thanked Juan Cruz, Marcia Kraut, Juan Cruz and
Barbara Vogelstein at the
