- The Wilmette Historical Museum will feature Joel Greenberg at its annual meeting at 2 p.m. Jan. 25. Greenberg will present Of Prairie, Woods and Water, a collection of first-person narratives about Chicago's natural beauty written between 1721 and 1959. Contrary to most library portraits about Chicago's landscape, one of gritty industry and urban sprawl, Greenberg's anthology uncovers a more picturesque Chicago. A limited number of books will be available for purchase and signing. In addition to the speaker, the society will hold a brief general meeting to elect officers for 2009. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The museum is located at 609 Ridge Road. For more information or to make reservations, call (847) 853-7666.
