- Hillville was as well known in the 1870s as Wilmette. This area situated in the locality of Fifth street and Maple Avenue retained its identity as a neighborhood long after it was incorporated into Wilmette in 1906. It was named for the family of an early pioneer, Arunah Hill, whose son, B. F. Hill [Benjamin Franklin Hill], afterwards bought land and built the first houses in "Hillville." "Hillville" gave way to "Llewellyn Park" when the Milwaukee railroad built a spur toward Wilmette. Both names have now disappeared.
