Rockapalooza 2009, the Wilmette Public Library's annual end-of-summer concert event for local high school students, will be held from 5-10 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Warming House Youth Center, Lake Avenue and Ridge Road, Wilmette. For information, call Brian Myers.

Spotlighters at the Mette invites senior (60-plus years) performers to audition for its new senior variety showcase. Auditions will be held from 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 25-26 at the Wilmette Theatre, 1122 Central Ave., Wilmette. Acts selected will perform at the Wilmette Theatre on one of the following dates: Sept. 20, Oct. 25 or Nov. 15. Spotlighters from each month's showcase will be invited back to perform in a Senior Spotlighters Gala in June 2010. Contact Joyce Stern Greenberg.

Tickets are $15. 21 and over event; alcohol will be sold. Aug. 2, 11 a.m.: "Grease -- A Family Sing-Along." Costumes are welcome. $12.

Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Ave. Aug. 27, 7 p.m.: "City Beautiful: Celebrating the Burnham Plan Centennial." Art historian Jeff Mishur explores Daniel Burnham's 1909 plan for Chicago and its environs. Armchair Travel programs at 1 p.m. Thursdays in the auditorium located on the lower level. Aug. 6: Denmark by Myrla Brand. Aug. 13: London by Ryan Watts. Aug. 20: Portugal by Ryan Watts. Aug. 27: Egypt by Foil Miller.
