- Cook County Assessor's office announced last week that assessments on residential properties in New Trier Township would be lowered by 5 percent for the 2009 tax year, that is, the tax bills paid in 2010. The Assessor's office is lowering assessments on a township -by-township basis to reflect local market trends. Residents should not expect lower tax bills in spite of this according to JoAnn Shrier Gordon, New Trier Township Assessor, as increases in tax rates by local government bodies may occur.
