- The League of Women Voters hosted a dinner meeting featuring Wilmette's local government leaders April 15. Village President Christopher Canning as well as president of local school boards, the Library Board and Park District board discussed their financial situations. Canning said the village budget was strong, but that shortfalls were expected due to cuts in state funding and a downturn in local sales taxes and income taxes.
